Essential services

Health and Wellness

The University Health Services (Clinic) and University Counselling Services (UCS) will continue to serve staff and students, with counsellors on-site to attend to crises and walk-in cases.

The 24-hour NUS LifeLine (6516 7777) is available for all in the NUS community who may wish to call in for emotional/psychological support or in distress.

Same-day walk-in appointments continue to be available at UCS during normal working hours (8.30am-5.30pm on Monday-Thursday, 8.30am-5pm on Friday) for those who would need to see a counsellor for emotional support or to help them deal with their issues during this difficult and trying time. 

If you have any enquiries about UCS services, please do not hesitate to call UCS at

UCS’s routine channels for enquiries remain open and will be responded to, as per normal business operations.

Shuttle Service

Internal Shuttle Bus (ISB)

As at 11 Apr, safe distancing measures has been implemented in the ISB.

  • A maximum of 16 commuters will be allowed on each shuttle bus at any one time
  • Only commuters with proper NUS and NUS contractor identities will be allowed to board the ISB
  • Commuters are to adhere to spaces marked out for sitting or standing in the buses and at the bus‐ stops
  • Commuters are to board from the front bus entrance and alight from the back exit door of the buses
  • Commuters are required to put on a mask while riding on the buses
  • The bus captain reserves the right to reject a commuter from boarding if the bus has reached the maximum capacity of 16 riders or if the commuter is deemed not to be feeling well

With effect from 13 Apr 2020, the ISB schedules has been adjusted.

NUSmart Shuttle Service will not be operating from 7 Apr 2020. Check back here to find out when the service will be resumed.

Other essential services that will continue between 7 April and 4 May include electricity, water and sanitary services; general waste collection, vector control and landscape maintenance; air-conditioning for labs; and campus security.

NUS Libraries

All libraries will be closed from 8 April to 1 June. For more details and updates, please refer to NUS Libraries’ portal announcement

Dining and Retail Outlets

Dining and retail outlets will continue to serve our campus community for takeaway services only, with shortened hours as shared in the following list. Staff and students are strongly encouraged to bring their own containers for meals.
